Dogpile & the ASPCA
As a blogger, you know that the Internet has forever changed the way people communicate. Today, it’s changing the way we raise money for a great cause. I donate to the ASPCA, monthly, so I thought this was worth mentioning. It’s something I’m proud to support.
Search engine Dogpile.com has launched Search & Rescue, a philanthropy program that donates money to the ASPCA each time a user searches the Internet using Dogpile.com. You search, they rescue. It’s as simple as that. With a goal to raise $1 million by the end of 2009. There is a live counter at the Dogpile homepage showing how much as been raised, to date.
You can participate by simply searching the Web on Dogpile.com, telling others, or adding a Dogpile toolbar to your blog so that users can participate directly from your page.
There is a web site that will answer any questions you may have about Dogpile or Search & Rescue and a multimedia news release with an accompanying video that’s easy to imbed.
As it turns out, now is an incredibly important time to help the ASPCA. Research shows that Americans are decreasing their donations by an average of 41 percent in 2009 due to economic struggles. This combined with a home foreclosure crisis that has left many animals abandoned, leaves animal-related charities in a dire situation.
Together, we can help the ASPCA in its mission to help animals everywhere.
Thanks to Matt for all the details and such!
