Wasted Space…

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

I just created a new wasted -oops, I mean My Space to reflect my new “name” If you have an accout there, leave me your URL, I’d like to establish a new friends list there. I really don’t use the acct but anyway…… I’m off to bug my hunny, grab a snack, then hit the sack…

‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I have not been up to much of as late… typical weekend. I listed one of my vehicles up for sale. I usually drive the truck and the husband usually drives the car to work - so we thought we’d attempt to get rid of the third one (it’s an Explorer). The only reason I hate to is because it’s paid for (2 of our 3 are paid for)… but we decided to do it, if it goes, it goes. We can always get something else later, if we wish. For those who’ve been readin’ a while it’s the one we put a new transmission in.

UPDATE: I came back to add today was report card day… I didn’t know ’till my son just walked in. He made All A’s again! Woot. That’s four 6 weeks in a row, only 2 more six weeks left of the school year. Now, if only his behavior would improve. Someone said we aren’t perfect, that is so true! I’m so proud of him.

I don’t really have anything on my mind today so I’ll leave you with this:

I’ve never made a fortune, and it’s probably too late now.But I don’t worry about that much, I’m happy anyhow and as I go along life’s way, I’m reaping better than I sowed. I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven’t got a lot of riches, and sometimes the going’s tough but I’ve got loving ones all around me, and that makes me rich enough. I thank God for his blessings, and the mercies He’s bestowed. I’m drinking from my saucer, ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong, My faith wore somewhat thin. But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again. So Lord, help me not to gripe, about the tough rows I have hoed. I’m drinking from my saucer,’Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage, When the way grows steep and rough. I’ll not ask for other blessings, I’m already blessed enough. And may I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads. Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer,’Cause my cup has overflowed.

I have no idea who wrote this but I liked it and wanted to share. Don’t forget about the St. Patrick’s Day Contest!

Jiggy with offspring

I had no idea that is was “OK” to marry your cousin! It seems that many people will, out of humor, associate that with the South. I was readin’ and came across this information - it actually happens and no NOT just in the hicktowns. Shocked? I was. As of September 2005 Texas doesn’t allow it but about 16 states still allow you to get jiggy with your cousins!

Did you know that Edgar Allen Poe married his cousin Virgina? How about that Christopher Robin married his first cousin Lesley? Albert Einstein and his wife were *double* cousins (first on his Mom’s side and second cousins on his Dads!) How’s them apples? Also, Jessie James married his first cousin. Queen Victoria and her husband, Price Albert were cousins, too! Franklin D. Roosevelt didn’t marry his first cousin but he did marry a cousin - she already had the same last name. I really didn’t know all this till now. Woah.

I read current studies indicate that cousin couples have a lower ratio of miscarriages — perhaps because body chemistry of cousins is more similar. It has been said that first-cousin couples inherit recessive genetic disorders in 7% to 8% of cases which is only 2 or 3% greater than the general population - however with modern technology the risk is potentially even lower.

I don’t think I personally know anyone who has married a cousin. What do you think? Do you think it’s OK to marry a 1st or 2nd cousin? How about a distant cousin?

On that note, we are all cousins. No two people are more distantly related than 50th cousins. Hehehe.

Photography…

I’m not a professional but enjoy it a great deal… I was more into photography when I had my Canon Digital SLR. As most know, the camera was ‘five-finger discounted’ and I no longer have it *sigh*… now I have a Canon Powershot. While it doesn’t compare to the SLR, obviously, I think it is capable of snappin’ some great shots - it’s better than the old Sony Cybershot I have!

With that said, last night I established a photoblog. Go me, eh? I did so because sometimes I have photos I really like and want to share but don’t really want to post them here as an entry. I encourage you to go check it out and let me know what you think: *I closed it, sorry* … a look into the life of a Tennessee Chick. Lame title perhaps… Comments are always welcomed - hopefully you’ll bookmark/blogroll me and keep interest! If you have a photoblog - please leave a link to it… I’d love to link my friends there.

Don’t forget to take part in the St. Patrick’s Day Contest!
