    Dentist Talk 13

    Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Well, if you read the other day you are aware of the accident my daughter had. I did take her to the dentist. Here is an update on the tooth accident. Since it’s Thursday, let’s see if I can make this into a list of 13.

    1. He looked at it - at first he said we’d have to likely go in and repair it - I can’t think of the big dental term. He said he’d know more after an xray…

    2. He took an xray and there was NO root for that tooth. He expected to see a broken root… meaning see the top where it’s attached to the gum and see the bottom where it’s attached to the tooth… and broken in the middle from the accident… yet there was nothing there.

    3. He said it could have been hiding directly behind or something but he didn’t think so.

    4. He said he didn’t want to pull it out now. I’m glad, I didn’t want to give her any traumatic experience as she isn’t afraid of the dentist.

    5. He said don’t expect it to still be there on Valentines. If there is a root there (that we didn’t see) it’s possible it’d re-root but he said he thought it was too loose and since we didn’t see a root it will come out. Just a matter of time.

    6. We did see her permanent teeth growing in.. so that’s good. He said the tooth coming out may make it come in sooner or may make it have a delay - there was no way to tell.

    7. Technically, she shouldn’t loose this tooth for at least a year or two but there really isn’t anything we could do… without a root. it’s already a bit darker than normal and I’m so upset this happened.

    8. He was a bit baffled about that whole ‘no root’ thing, as was I. He said it appears to have not been there for a while… weird.

    9. She has such a beautiful smile and teeth… she still will… but I am sad she will loose this, this way.

    10. She can’t have her routine dental visit for a couple of weeks as he gum is pretty injured.

    11. That means I will take her back next month for cleaning.

    12. Speaking of dentist, my son has a appointment on the 6th. He is scared of the dentist.

    13. I don’t like them either.. and will be going in soon, too. Ugh.

    Woot, I did it, 13!

    T13: Keep This In Mind

    Thursday, December 21st, 2006

#13 After the New Year, pet shelters and rescues overfill with animals that were impulse gifts by folks who choose them as Christmas presents.

#12 If you really want to bring an animal companion into your home, make sure that you know what you are getting into.

#11 If you want to purchase a pet for someone else, make 100% sure they want it!

#10 Don’t pay hundreds for some store bought pet.

#9 If possible, go to your local shelter or vet and give a homeless pet a forever home.

#8 Yep, they have purebred animals, too.

#7 While it can be wonderful to receive a new pet as a gift, not everyone has thought about the impact of owning an animal (cost, time, messes).

#6 Be a responsible pet owner.

#5 Keep pets off the street and out of the pounds.

#4 Don’t buy animals as gifts.

#3 Animals are near and dear to my heart and I feel this message can not be stressed enough.

#2 While I have rec’d a pet as a gift - it was from my husband he knew exactly what I wanted and it was discussed together (this was 10 years ago and I still have my cat). My point in telling you that? “Pet gifts” can be the right thing - but it usually isn’t. Be wise.

#1 Pets are for life, not just for the holidays.
