New folks this week: Ian, CrazyRN, Shanilie, Holly, Angelika, Lillasyster, SueEllen, MonkeyGiggles, Stine, Erin, Csara, KelKat, Donut.
I looked up the word and one defination for empty was “completely spent of emotion: The experience had left him with an empty heart.” SO, that’s my take. Here is my daughter this week - she was empty. She couldn’t make the basket like we could… because she wasn’t tall enough.
She has her own goal… but it isn’t the same.

I always try to post early for those who live on the ‘other side of the world’. By the time I get up out of bed here in the USA, on Saturday, the Easterners day is nearly over. I’m sure they appreciate some early birds posting. :o)
My empty is posted.
Happy day TNChick, and everyone!!!

happy weekend
March 23rd, 2007 at 8:14 pm
Aww, poor thing. Before she knows it, she’ll be taller than you.
March 23rd, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Awww! She’ll make it in no time!
Mine’s up.
March 23rd, 2007 at 8:58 pm
Tell her I’m 5′7 and I can’t make a basket either! Nice take on the theme - beautiful black & white shot.
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Great photo editing, what an awesome moment in time you captured.
Mine is up this week too!
Thanks!
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Awww…that poor dear. She needs a smaller goal. I have a 4yo and this is exactly the way she reacts to similar situations. That’s a great photo! Happy Hunting!
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Beautiful photo. Very well captured.
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:22 pm
Oh oh, totally drained as it looks like
So, you can wear flip-flops… It’s just not fair! We’re still freezing our butts off, even though there isn’t any snow left any more, it has gone unusually early this year. Well, it might be back, it’s quite common to get snow in late April… *sigh*
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:32 pm
She’ll be so happy the first time she does make that basket.
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Ah
She’ll make it one day and be amazing
Mine’s up …
March 23rd, 2007 at 9:56 pm
As usual, your photos are always so wonderful!…She looks exactly that, “spent”…I love seeing what you post! My photo is up, please come and visit when you can.
March 23rd, 2007 at 10:01 pm
Empty ? I think she looks rather very upset, lol. It’s a very nice picture full of atmosphere !
I have a few empty things too !
March 23rd, 2007 at 10:14 pm
I have seen this look on my children as well. You completely captured the moment.
March 23rd, 2007 at 10:23 pm
Poor thing. . . I remember feeling like that. . . Great job with the photo!
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:00 pm
Your daughter is a cutie, even with a sad look on her face.
Great post for today. Mine is up. Baba
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:03 pm
Bless her heart… she is adorable.
I can’t make a basket either and I am tall enough. It just doesn’t want to bounce in.
And… guess what… in a few years, she’ll probably be better than her mom.
Happy hunting today!
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:09 pm
Even when she’s sad, your daughter is pretty! My photo is up, it’s about an
empty nest
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:10 pm
Oh the poor kid. I feel so sorry for her. So young and she can feel it already.
Mine is up too.
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:11 pm
Bless her sweet, little heart! With those spunky little flip-flops, who needs to make a goal?! I love what you did with the colors in the photo. Very nice! And Spring-like… It was nearly 80 degrees here today in good, old GA!
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:22 pm
Poor kid! I think we all know exactly how she feels.
My photo is posted!
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:23 pm
This one was fun! Mines up and I love your picture. She looks like she is ready to pass out.
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:28 pm
Thought I’d try it this week, since it was an appropriate theme given the pet food recall.
I loved your picture. She does look like she is running on empty!
Tara
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:31 pm
I have to agree, she does look empty, spent. It’s hard at that age when you want to do stuff around bigger people. What a great picture. I love your blending of black & white and color. Have a great weekend.
March 23rd, 2007 at 11:39 pm
Awwww, sometimes it’s tough being little. Love this picture! Really captures her mood.

She does look spent! Is she pouting in that photo too?
I’ve got a photo up of myself this week that Trish took a while back.
March 24th, 2007 at 2:23 am
Aw she’s so sweet looking! Sounds like she just gave up on playing. Poor thing.
I’ve got photos on two sites today - ones linked to my name, and the other is on my gardening site.
March 24th, 2007 at 2:44 am
I now how she feels!
March 24th, 2007 at 2:47 am

March 24th, 2007 at 3:12 am
I love this! Im glad you gave the definition!
March 24th, 2007 at 3:26 am
Aww… Sometimes it’s so hard to be smaller than the others…
March 24th, 2007 at 3:29 am
I wish I’d read the explanation first. I use the page that the theme is listed for the whole season that just has the word….empty.
http://photosandpursuits.blogspot.com/2007/03/empty.html
March 24th, 2007 at 3:37 am
Aww.. It breaks my heart to see her so sad
March 24th, 2007 at 3:45 am
She really looks so disappointed.
March 24th, 2007 at 4:51 am
You took a wonderful photograph. The emotion is clear; the colors are great. Almost black and white but the flip-flops pop out at you.
March 24th, 2007 at 5:13 am
The way you’ve done the colors!! What a pretty photo.
Cute of your daughter, too. Sometimes it’s not easy being short.
March 24th, 2007 at 5:17 am
That is such a perfect picture and it said empty to me before I even read the story. She will get there. I watched the same thing with my niece and now she is on a basketball team. I love the photo.
March 24th, 2007 at 5:46 am
Awwwww….so sweet! You captured her mood so beautifully
March 24th, 2007 at 5:47 am
Very pretty, interesting use of colour too. Mine’s up.
March 24th, 2007 at 5:56 am
What a great use of color in your shot! And you captured her mood perfectly.
March 24th, 2007 at 6:14 am
Awwwwwwww! Time passes so quickly. It won’t be any time at all that she will be tall enough to make the baskets like the rest! Have a wonderful weekend!
March 24th, 2007 at 6:16 am
Awww! Very sweet.
March 24th, 2007 at 6:25 am
That is a precious picture and she is definitely empty! Poor kid, they want to be big so much faster than we want them to, don’t they? Thanks for sharing!
March 24th, 2007 at 6:37 am
She looks so dejected. Poor thing. But it’s necessary to experience the lows to appreciate the highs. I hate when kids feel like this, but it helps to know that she’s learning her limitations and gearing up for that next hurdle. Excellent shot, as usual!
LOVE the splash of colors. I have got to teach myself that trick. Hope you’re feeling better and have an excellent weekend!
March 24th, 2007 at 6:39 am
I thought about doing something similar…but a very special delivery changed my mind
March 24th, 2007 at 7:53 am
That is such a sweet, lovely picture!
March 24th, 2007 at 7:55 am
What a awesome picture, I need to work with black and whites and color! I love it.

March 24th, 2007 at 8:05 am
What a great photo! Mine’s up!
March 24th, 2007 at 8:42 am

March 24th, 2007 at 8:52 am
I love you take on this week’s theme–she is so cute
.
I guess I was just not thinking hard enough…I didn’t play this week. I am sorry TNChick. I will try harder next to come up with something…
Have a wonderful weekend…
March 24th, 2007 at 8:52 am
Hi! Just got home and I was eager to check my comments. Thanks for being the first one to visit my photo hunt. I’m late with my visit ‘coz I went out today.
Thanks for sharing your meaningful entry. I’m sorry she felt empty at that moment. I’m sure you made her feel better after that. A little encouragement and I’m sure she’ll manage to shoot the ball.
I love the effect of your photo. I like how some parts are colored and others are not. Very beautiful.
Have a wonderful weekend!
March 24th, 2007 at 9:03 am
What a beautiful picture. That would just like my daughters, plopping down on the sidelines during soccer practice!
March 24th, 2007 at 9:08 am
Poor baby. But just imagine how much more excited she will be when she does make it. All that emptiness will fill right up.
I didn’t realize you were a scrapbooker as well as a photographer. Wonderful picture and (finally scrolling down - it’s been a busy week) wonderful page. I envy you your creativity. Looking forward to next week.
March 24th, 2007 at 9:46 am
Love the colors you left in
Mine’s up!
March 24th, 2007 at 9:56 am
Capturing moments like this is so priceless….One day she’ll make it and it won’t be empty anymore…

March 24th, 2007 at 10:22 am
What a great choice
I’m up.
March 24th, 2007 at 11:17 am
Gorgeous photo! I love how you added in the colors into the black and white. She looks so sad
Great take on the theme too.
March 24th, 2007 at 11:30 am
Oh that is so sweet. I just wanna hug her…
March 24th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
Wow, you really went outside the box with this one. Gorgeous picture, I hope your daughter is full of live though, she looks like she is.
March 24th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
Your photo coloring is amazing! I love the contrast you used between single colors and B&W. Your depiction of the theme “empty” is totally fabulous and your daughter’s emotes thousands of words on film! I can actually feel how “spent” of energy and emotion she is for not being able to make that basket.
Mine is up also,
Lea
March 24th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
This is a great take on the theme. It’s unfortunate for your little girl that she had to feel that way, but sometimes those things spur us on to keep trying. Someday, when she’s taller, it won’t be so hard any more.
March 24th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Great interpretation and picture. Mine is up!
March 24th, 2007 at 2:39 pm
Love the photo! i was out all day yesterday and am FEELING empty! lol I just dont have a photo of it right about now! lmao
I’m on it though!
March 24th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
I especially like your use of color in the graytone photo. Great entry for a tough subject. It stretches my thinking.
March 24th, 2007 at 4:38 pm
Great picture and wonderful use of color! This was an excellent theme that made me think about things. I enjoyed choosing a photo for it. Mine is up, so come by and say hi!
March 24th, 2007 at 5:09 pm
Wow, what a lovely picture. I love the way you used the black and white photo with little splashes of color. Very creative. Neat take on the theme, too.
March 24th, 2007 at 6:08 pm
Gorgeous!!! I wish I had your talent …
March 24th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
What a beautiful but sad picture. The touches of color in the B&W make for a very powerful picture.
March 24th, 2007 at 7:03 pm
Great photo editing!! Love your take on the theme =) Mine is up now.
March 24th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
Beautifully done and perfect for the theme!
March 24th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
Mines up, but it’s a video, which is a sequence of photos, hope that’s ok.
March 24th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
Very pretty!
March 25th, 2007 at 12:10 am
Ah, that’s a lovely picture. I love pictures that capture emotion. She’s so sweet and cute though, it’s hard to be sad.
March 25th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Wow, this is impressive! I am also impressed by how many comments you have! Off to see more of your place.
March 25th, 2007 at 3:19 pm
That is precious, and I love the way you did the color. Mine’s up.
March 25th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
A beautiful photo!
How DO you make it black and white and have color in
some places? I don’t think you can do that in Paint Shop!
Very lovely
Happy weekend
L
March 25th, 2007 at 6:46 pm

Beautiful photo, TNChick. And I like how use the theme!!!!

March 27th, 2007 at 8:39 am
Fantastic photo, and what a wonderful take. I hope she was re-filled soon!
March 29th, 2007 at 10:10 am
