New folks this week: Ian, CrazyRN, Shanilie, Holly, Angelika, Lillasyster, SueEllen, MonkeyGiggles, Stine, Erin, Csara, KelKat, Donut.

Empty

I looked up the word and one defination for empty was “completely spent of emotion: The experience had left him with an empty heart.” SO, that’s my take. Here is my daughter this week - she was empty. She couldn’t make the basket like we could… because she wasn’t tall enough.
She has her own goal… but it isn’t the same.

I always try to post early for those who live on the ‘other side of the world’. By the time I get up out of bed here in the USA, on Saturday, the Easterners day is nearly over. I’m sure they appreciate some early birds posting. :o)

    My empty is posted.
    Happy day TNChick, and everyone!!!

  33. 33. Comment by Mrs Lifecruiser (148 comments.):

Oh oh, totally drained as it looks like :-) So, you can wear flip-flops… It’s just not fair! We’re still freezing our butts off, even though there isn’t any snow left any more, it has gone unusually early this year. Well, it might be back, it’s quite common to get snow in late April… *sigh*

  34. 34. Comment by Barbara (193 comments.):

She’ll be so happy the first time she does make that basket.

  41. 41. Comment by srp (42 comments.):

Bless her heart… she is adorable.
I can’t make a basket either and I am tall enough. It just doesn’t want to bounce in.
And… guess what… in a few years, she’ll probably be better than her mom.

    Happy hunting today!

  42. 42. Comment by bonggamom (21 comments.):

  70. 70. Comment by Bobbie (25 comments.):

The way you’ve done the colors!! What a pretty photo.
Cute of your daughter, too. Sometimes it’s not easy being short.

  71. 71. Comment by Barman6 (13 comments.):

That is such a perfect picture and it said empty to me before I even read the story. She will get there. I watched the same thing with my niece and now she is on a basketball team. I love the photo.

  75. 75. Comment by ~ Patricia:

Awwwwwwww! Time passes so quickly. It won’t be any time at all that she will be tall enough to make the baskets like the rest! Have a wonderful weekend!

  76. 76. Comment by Heidi (23 comments.):

    Awww! Very sweet.

  77. 77. Comment by Holly (6 comments.):

That is a precious picture and she is definitely empty! Poor kid, they want to be big so much faster than we want them to, don’t they? Thanks for sharing!

  78. 78. Comment by Write From Karen (68 comments.):

She looks so dejected. Poor thing. But it’s necessary to experience the lows to appreciate the highs. I hate when kids feel like this, but it helps to know that she’s learning her limitations and gearing up for that next hurdle. Excellent shot, as usual!

LOVE the splash of colors. I have got to teach myself that trick. Hope you’re feeling better and have an excellent weekend!

  79. 79. Comment by Sissy B. (4 comments.):

I thought about doing something similar…but a very special delivery changed my mind ;)

  85. 85. Comment by Heart of Rachel (120 comments.):

Hi! Just got home and I was eager to check my comments. Thanks for being the first one to visit my photo hunt. I’m late with my visit ‘coz I went out today.

Thanks for sharing your meaningful entry. I’m sorry she felt empty at that moment. I’m sure you made her feel better after that. A little encouragement and I’m sure she’ll manage to shoot the ball.

I love the effect of your photo. I like how some parts are colored and others are not. Very beautiful.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  86. 86. Comment by margaret (27 comments.):

What a beautiful picture. That would just like my daughters, plopping down on the sidelines during soccer practice!

  87. 87. Comment by Debi (3 comments.):

Poor baby. But just imagine how much more excited she will be when she does make it. All that emptiness will fill right up.

I didn’t realize you were a scrapbooker as well as a photographer. Wonderful picture and (finally scrolling down - it’s been a busy week) wonderful page. I envy you your creativity. Looking forward to next week.

  94. 94. Comment by Melli (89 comments.):

Oh that is so sweet. I just wanna hug her…

  95. 95. Comment by Jose (2 comments.):

Wow, you really went outside the box with this one. Gorgeous picture, I hope your daughter is full of live though, she looks like she is.

  96. 96. Comment by SilverWillow (46 comments.):

Your photo coloring is amazing! I love the contrast you used between single colors and B&W. Your depiction of the theme “empty” is totally fabulous and your daughter’s emotes thousands of words on film! I can actually feel how “spent” of energy and emotion she is for not being able to make that basket.

    Mine is up also,

    Lea

  97. 97. Comment by Philosophical Karen (19 comments.):

This is a great take on the theme. It’s unfortunate for your little girl that she had to feel that way, but sometimes those things spur us on to keep trying. Someday, when she’s taller, it won’t be so hard any more.

  98. 98. Comment by Sueellen (6 comments.):

Great interpretation and picture. Mine is up!
