Site of the day: Melange. Please, go say hello!

There are silver things in this photo, over the little windows. In a nearby super tiny town - this old state bank still stands.

Mitchellville State Bank 1886

Welcome to: Tricia, Claire, Colleen, Vicki, Letha, Margaret. I think that’s it. Not as many this week… I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. A few requested to be added but failed to leave a URL… I’ll add you folks when I hear back from you.

Side note, I’ve been blogroll cleaning (slowly). I have 16 more letters to go thru. Eek. I hope to finish the cleaning soon. If you run across any inactive sites, please let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like the wild west, “gun shop” ! Exciting, I think of all these old movies where the Cowboys were shooting themselves, collapsed and 5 min later they were alive again, lol !

Wow! I am so honored to be site of the day! I’ve been going around already and there are some gorgeous pictures out there this week (as always).

This little building is adorable and such history… funny how it was a bank and now a gun shop? Banks and guns don’t usually go together! :)

And at one time it held silver, too. Great old building.

How funny that things have changed all around that tiny little building and yet it still stands!

My silver is up, too! Please stop by for a visit.

  18. 18. Comment by Yoshi (12 comments.):

Wow, I realize that it still stands, but is it still in operation? Because that would definitely be the best thing.

    Great shot. I love it.

(are you using some kind of plugin for going back to flickr for your images? just curious)

  19. 19. Comment by Pastormac's Ann (70 comments.):

I guess the frost on my window can be considered to be silver. It sparkles like silver in the right light and like silver, can be spectacular.

Wow that’s a tiny bank! How old is it?

It reminds me of photos I took of the smallest Jailhouse in North America in Tweed, Ontario - http://feverishthoughts.com/2006/07/19/smallest-jailhouse/

Our photos are up on Odd Planet, As the garden grows and Tricia’s Musings. There are some interesting silver pics for you!

  26. 26. Comment by viamarie (68 comments.):

Good photo. I was busy all week and I didn’t find enough time to look for silver items in the house but as I visit each blog, I am amazed at how each one was able to take time to search an item or items.

Am enjoying this photo hunting. Thanks for hosting it.

  27. 27. Comment by Kay (21 comments.):

Very nice. We actually have some of those here in the provinces. The silver on the windows are to deflect the heat of the sun I think.

Mine’s up! finally got DSL at home so I can participate every single week once more.

  40. 40. Comment by Write From Karen (68 comments.):

I had a tough time with this one so opted to use another close-up angle shot my husband took.

LOVE these old buildings. It reminds me of something you would see in Silver Dollar City.

  41. 41. Comment by gewels (13 comments.):

Love those old buildings. So much history- if those walls could talk, huh?
Thanks for visiting. My new one is up now.

  42. 42. Comment by Toni (27 comments.):

It reminds me of my husband’s hometown. There are only a couple of businesses there now but many of the buildings still stand. They’ve recently taken to painting murals of the Old West on the walls. But I’m rambling… Mine’s up with a personal confession.

  43. 43. Comment by Christina (16 comments.):

Oh, that bank is super cute and how funny that it has the gun shop sign in the window!

    I played too :)

Sorry I’ve been so sporadic in playing lately… I’ve been that way about blogging in general I guess… I’m up today though, so that’s something.

A bank & a gun shop, eh? So you could walk in, buy a gun, and then rob the place with it?

  54. 54. Comment by Jane (49 comments.):

Cute picture, but it can’t be that tiny if they used to have a bank! I assume that the bank building stands, but the bank is no more? What with the gun shop store sign.

  65. 65. Comment by Mysterious Lady (20 comments.):

    That’s a neat old building!
I’m still in wedding bliss, so I showed off my new husbands ring that’s silver and gold.

  73. 73. Comment by Carol M. (30 comments.):

I see a lot of buildings like this in Florida (where I’m planning to move)…neat, old weathery buildings. I used to work in a bank, but nothing as small as this.

    Great shot!

    Mine’s up.

    Cheers.

  74. 74. Comment by Friday's Child (205 comments.):

This one is really unique. It reminds me of shops that I see on cowboy movies. It is amazing that it still stands todate. Is it operational still?
I really am sorry I wasn’t able to join the Photo hunters. I was at a loss when I was going to post and all of a sudden I couldn’t open my own blogger as I was switched to the new blogger buzz and not the blogger beta. They said blogger beta is already dead and this is the new one. So anyway, no Photo Hunter today but have something special for everyone. It is better than silver or gold. Please do visit if you have the time.

Great photograph! I love those old buildings. Sorry for not being around. My father-in-law slipped on the ice a while back and broke his hip. He’s 89, so it’s been rough - a lot of time at the hospital.

Thank you for sharing this lovely picture!

Hi! Sorry for visiting quite late.

Nice entry. It’s amazing how a small and old bank like this still operates. I noticed a sign that says Gun Shop. Hmmm… that’s extraordinary.
