Site of the day: East of Oregon. Please, go say hello!

My photo is some caterpillar I found in my yard before Winter hit… it had these clown ball thingies on its back. I thought it was kinda wild.

Anyway - I so enjoy caterpillars. There so many different ones. It amazes me how fast they can move with all those feet. Cool shot, TN.

I’ve entered As the Garden Grows as a photo hunt participant now too - so please visit http://feverishthoughts.com/garden/

Tricia’s Musings and my husbands site Odd planet also have WILD photos up today too. We seem to have a cat and bird theme going.

Oh, and Tricia’s Musings is turning a year old on Sunday, so I’d love to invite everyone to come to the blog party that starts at midnight. It should be fun fun fun!

    Happy Saturday everyone!

  31. 31. Comment by Tricia (98 comments.):

I’m sorry I also wanted to say that that was a very cool caterpiller. It looks slightly familiar but I’m not sure what it is. I think I’ve heard that when they have colored spikes like that that they might be poisonous, or maybe it’s one of those insects that fake looking like a poisonous one. :) Great shot.

  32. 32. Comment by Yoshi (12 comments.):

Love the contrast in colours with the blue and green of the caterpillar. definitely a wild shot!

    Mine are up

  33. 33. Comment by Pat (93 comments.):

Oh, what a freaky lookin’ caterpillar!!!

  34. 34. Comment by Mrs Lifecruiser (148 comments.):

Ha ha ha! I actually laugh out loud when seeing this one, what a cool fellow! Excellent capture. A punk caterpillar ;-) I wish we had such cool creatures over here too :-) Well, except from certain persons… *lol*

  35. 35. Comment by Caylynn (22 comments.):

That is a wild caterpillar! And a great photo. :)

My wild photo is up. :)

  36. 36. Comment by Linda (31 comments.):

That’s definitely a much more colorful caterpillar than we get out here in Connecticut. We usually get the “wooly bears” which are the black and brown ones and depending on how big the black stripe is in the middle, that’s supposed to tell us how bad of a winter we’re going to get. They don’t make for anywhere near as wild of a shot, though!

  37. 37. Comment by Sonny (12 comments.):

    That’s a great shot!

My photo is up too. Please stop by my blog and have a look!!

    Have a nice weekend,
    Sonny
    I will exercise for comments!!

  38. 38. Comment by Dragonheart (82 comments.):

  39. 39. Comment by eija (27 comments.):

Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck! And yet, kinda neat, too :)
I was one of the early birds - but I blame the time zones :D

  40. 40. Comment by Daisy (46 comments.):

I wish I could play with that bug!

  41. 41. Comment by amanda (9 comments.):

me and caterpillers dont’t get along. while I was studying outside, one fell on me and stung me like crazy. it was SO PAINFUL!!

They might be cute, but they sure aren’t harmless!!

  42. 42. Comment by gewels (13 comments.):

Gorgeous caterpillar. Isn’t Mother Nature amazing?
    First time, I played.

  43. 43. Comment by Luxor (9 comments.):

We had a caterpillar come visit us last summer - Mom got some photos of us checking it out! But we were a little suspicious of it!

  44. 44. Comment by Debbie (34 comments.):

We had several of those woollies too! They are really wild looking with that tuft on their backs! Great choice for today!

My photo is up! Happy Saturday!

  45. 45. Comment by Jan (bbsgirl) (21 comments.):

They say when you see those types of caterpilliars (sp?) that it’s going to be a hard winter.

    I posted too.

  46. 46. Comment by Cuidado (17 comments.):

I want to pet that caterpiller. It looks so soft. I have a moose for the “wild” theme.

  47. 47. Comment by Hootin' Anni (102 comments.):

Awesome. The wild creature I photographed and used this week for the theme would find your wild creature cute and playable!!! [In fact, I’ve watched ‘em play and tease caterpillars!]

    Happy Saturday TNChick!!

  48. 48. Comment by ChupieandJsmama (58 comments.):

Boy, that guy is wild looking. Every photo I see today reminds me of others I’ve taken and could have used. So many “wild things”.

  50. 50. Comment by libertybelle (26 comments.):

That caterpiller brought back memories of a birthday party I was at that had a caterpiller tree in the backyard. We all went wild and screamed our heads off as the caterpillers fell down onto our heads!
    Great choice!
    Happy Weekend

  81. 81. Comment by meeyauw (12 comments.):

The catepillar is totally fascinating: but what I am hung up on is its feet and mouth. The mouth seems to be open (to me at least) and the tiny feet must have like suction cups on them. It’s a great and interesting photo!

  82. 82. Comment by Tasra Dawson (19 comments.):

Thanks for adding me this week. Got my first Photo Hunter photo up…wild hair!

  83. 83. Comment by Friday's Child (205 comments.):

We all made a trip north and she had her first trip in the snow! She is a wild handful and growing fast!

  85. 85. Comment by Lucy Stern (113 comments.):

    That’s a hairy caterpiller, but isn’t he/she cute.

  86. 86. Comment by Desert Diva (25 comments.):

That’s a “wild” and wooly critter!

  87. 87. Comment by LibertyBelle (55 comments.):

Just a little feedback on my green gourds!
A neighbor grew them,Yes they’re are mine and third, I drill a little hole in them, dry them slowly and later put little peas in them, cork the hole and make instruments out of them!
That’s also what they do in Brazil, only they put a net with little metal things on them - they’re called Cabassas!
    Happy weekend!
