Welcome to: Jennifer, Nichole, WaspGoddess, Cathy, Jessica, Shawna, mrbherng, Amber, hollesdottir, David, Essie, Coonie, Eliza, Pete, Red, Julia,
Two old ring style (whatever they are called) baby spoons - one mine, one my brothers. An old heart charm pendent. The heart was my great-grandmothers, given to my grandmother, given to my mother… Very tarnished and antique. Photo taken on an antique dresser that belonged to my grandfather - a bedroom set he bought when he and my grandmother were married.
I am on medication (from the dentist) to control pain so I doubt I’ll be visiting many this week… I apologize for that.

It’s nice to have these pieces as part of a collection that is handed down to the next generations.
Hope meds will relieve your pain.
February 16th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
I think it’s great that you have antiques not only from when you and your brother were young but you have things of your grandparents, also. Someday you’ll be able to pass them down to your kids, too.
Hope you feel better soon! Dentist visits can be quite painful!
February 16th, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Sorry to hear about the tooth pain, but tis better to be drugged than to not be drugged in that situation. Beautiful pictures and I hope your week ends up being tooth pain free soon.

Feel better!
And mine is up.
February 17th, 2007 at 12:36 am
Very cool and antique spoons you are sharing this week. I don’t have anything antique in our home, so I had to look outside for a photo for this week…
I hope you are feeling better soon. I am sorry that you had to go the dentist and left with much pain.
(((hugs)))
February 17th, 2007 at 12:37 am
My mom collects antique glassware and my brother loves antique furniture. I like it if it is passed through the family from one to another and if there is a history behind it.
I do hope your dental woes come to a swift end and that the pain is not too bad. Ouch… Do you think dentists get a complex? None of their patients like to go see them.
February 17th, 2007 at 12:47 am
I love things like this — it’s so good that you still have them
February 17th, 2007 at 12:50 am
You’ve got a lot of history in those items. Very nice.
Hope your tooth pain goes away soon.
Photos posted at As the Garden Grows, Odd Planet and Tricia’s Musings! Lots of antiques.
February 17th, 2007 at 1:06 am
These are really something! I can’t believe how something like that can last for so long, and even more precious is the history it carries.
February 17th, 2007 at 1:11 am
I took a session on how to tell a story from antiques. One item we looked at was an old spoon that was worn on one side from scraping the bowl, we figured.
Nice collection, TN Chick.
February 17th, 2007 at 1:21 am
Spoons last THAT long? Real antiques, indeed.
February 17th, 2007 at 1:37 am
Great collection of antiques here. The finish on the dresser is beautiful even today. How great that your picture has antiques that are so much a part of your family history.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Ouch. That sounded no nice, I hope it goes away quickly.
Very very nice antiques and with memories too - the very best kind!!!! I wish we would have something like that in my family at all, but nada.
February 17th, 2007 at 5:20 am
Family heirlooms — the best antiques of all.
February 17th, 2007 at 5:26 am
Those are some cool antiques. You should have them framed or put in a shadow box. They surely will add oomph to your living room.
Do drop by my post!
February 17th, 2007 at 5:44 am
Those are really neat! I love the wood on the dresser, and I think it’s great that you still have it. Sorry you’re having dental pain - hope they gave you good drugs for it, LOL
My antiques for the week are up:-)
February 17th, 2007 at 6:24 am
This one was really hard for me because I’m not a big fan of antiques and never keep anything (if possible). However, my husband found something interesting at a garage sale that I wouldn’t ever part with. *smile*
There’s nothing like tooth pain. Feel better soon!
February 17th, 2007 at 6:29 am
I forgot to add this in my earlier comment - the spoons can be polished pretty easily with a jeweler’s polishing cloth without damaging the spoons or the silver. The cloths are pretty inexpensive to buy, and you can probably get them online through a jeweler’s supply site. My dad used to make silver jewelry from silverware, and they polish up really well.
February 17th, 2007 at 6:35 am
Take care of yourself and no need to visit! Dental pain is well understood!
I love the pieces especially the locket!
February 17th, 2007 at 6:39 am
Ouch! I can feel that pain already. Nice antique pieces. I really am very sorry but wasn’t able to make it today. I had my things ready for shots but unfortunately, my DIL went out of town today and she brought the camera with her today. She’ll be coming late tonight so I really am so sorry.
February 17th, 2007 at 7:17 am

Those spoons are probably worth something now too. I’ve posted too. Can’t wait to see other people’s pictures.
February 17th, 2007 at 7:54 am
I don’t have any spoons like that from when I was little, but I do know remember that I have a few from when my own kids were born. I chose what I thought was a fantastic antique to own. I’m up and posted this week also.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

What a great choice! My children each had one of those spoons, but unfortunately I have no clue where they are now. Love that heart pendant….my mom had one very similar from my dad, which I now have.

February 17th, 2007 at 4:14 pm
LOL! YOUR baby spoons were fancy! My little “loop” spoon (that’s what I call it!) was just tin … or whatever cheap stuff - and with NO design of any kind! Yours were SILVER! How niiiice!
February 17th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
What great keepsakes! I hope you feel better!
February 17th, 2007 at 4:43 pm
You have such wonderful mementos of your family. How lucky you are! Now rest and get better! There are plenty of other Hunts to visit in the future!
February 17th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
I hope you feel better! Somewhere I have my spoon like that.
This was a fun prompt, especially because I found something today that I didn’t even know existed and I used it for my photo.
February 17th, 2007 at 8:12 pm

I wish you all the best. On medication from the dentist… ohw, I know so well how you feel… Take care!

Don’t you worry about visiting anything or anyone right now, your main concern should be to get well. Your entry for today is really beautiful. Do you keep the spoons and locket locked away?
Great Choice.

Happy Hunting
February 17th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
what a great collection of antiques.
February 17th, 2007 at 11:14 pm
Ooh I know how dental pain goes. I hope you feel better soon.
Your photo is really great. Very neat pieces indeed!
February 18th, 2007 at 1:20 am
The pieces on your display reminded me of metal class in Jr. High School. We use to make jewerly out of forks and spoons. I really didn’t like the metal class so I changed it for typing. Who would have know that it was going to come so handy in the future to be a good typist.
February 18th, 2007 at 2:20 am
better late than never….
February 18th, 2007 at 3:41 am
Wonderful collection to have. My PhotoHunt photo is up (a little late)HERE.
February 18th, 2007 at 7:13 am

February 18th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Good collection; hope you feel better.
February 18th, 2007 at 10:42 am
what cool pieces to have. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
February 19th, 2007 at 1:15 am
Ack, dentist pain. Well, at least the one good thing about going to the dentist is that you get to feeling better really soon; a couple days of being sore and feeling blech is better than weeks more of tooth pain, right? (At least that’s what I keep telling myself.)
How did the monkey box do at school? Did you win?
February 19th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
Very cool spoons. Thanks for sharing.
February 19th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
It looks just like the Welsh Lovespoon.. the only different is that the lovespoon is made from wood.
