Check out this…
Not sure what exactly it is, but it looks like an oversized moth. It’s huge…

He was on my house the other night. Click to enlarge, if you’d like.

It looks like gypsy moth (I THINK that’s what they are called). I Googled Tennessee moths (and we have some BIG ones) once after we moved here because I saw some BIG moths flying around outside. One of them crashed into my backdoor window…scared the bejeezus outta me!!!

This is the website I used…if you feel like searching through counties and photos. It wasn’t a gypsy moth, but I know I found that ugly creature in this site at one time.

My husband ran into the house yesterday freaking out over seeing a huge moth or butterfly. He thought it was a bird at first… then freaked when he discovered it was a bug.

Eek, that’s huge. Love how you liken it to a DP lol.
There are some weird creatures around lately, it was only yesterday I saw something on TV about how countries that are not used to so many bugs are getting so many, and some strange ones at that.

Wow! That you saw it at all given how the color blends into the wall is great. What a beautiful moth! Very good shot both of them!

That is sure a huge thing - whatever it is. Now seeing your DP next to it makes even seem bigger.

I saw a moth that looked exactly like that on the porch of our cabin in Sewanee this weekend. It’s an infestation I tell ya’.
But a pretty one.

Looks like some version of a cecropia moth to me - always a happy find around this particular yard. Not as cool as a luna moth, but dang close.

I’d have to say that’s the biggest moth I’ve ever seen!! It’s cool that it stayed there so you could photograph it without it flying off.
