Check out this baby!
Before I started to mow the yard, we walked around to make sure everything was picked up (toys, sticks, etc). While walkin’ around - my husband spotted this baby turtle! He was super small. It’s amazing we didn’t overlook it. I am holding it up in this first photo (yeah, check out that broken thumbnail - ouch).
After keeping the little one for the day we finally took him to the pond to live happily ever after. We were going to keep it but the little girl (better known as my daughter) wouldn’t leave the poor thing alone and I didn’t want him to be miserable. (Believe me, she would have carried it *everywhere*). She was sad for a minute ’till we told her mama and daddy turtles were at the pond. We told her they would be family and she was happy.

Cute! we never see turtles around here. Back in the UK I remember having a tortoise for a pet, but the winter months were long, and as you know tortoises hibernate.. Guess we got bored with waiting for him to wake up so he went to a new home. :=)

Cute! We used to have 3 of them, and my daughter named them after the Ninja Turtles. She was in elementary school at the time. Then we had another turtle later in a nice man-made pond we had in our yard. The neighbors rednosed pitbulls got out of their yard and came into ours, and mangled the turtle.

Wow - that is a cool turtle. I am with your daughter - I would have carried it all around with me. The markings are just incredible on this little fella. I am glad that you walked around before you started mowing the lawn.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy Tuesday to you and yours .

That’s a cute looking turtle. I have seen turtles in pet shops but none yet with this kind of spots on it.
Glad it’s back in the pond.

Awww! That’s *almost* as cute as my frogs!
And my little man would be carrying it around EVERYWHERE, too! I know what you mean! He actually asked for a turtle for his birthday, but think we’re gonna go w/a fish! LOL

That is a GREAT turtle. Our little ones are the same, we use that same explanation when talking about frogs. Sara would sleep with these things if we let her. LOL

awww, but you’re right, that thing is better off in a pond. my girlfriends son has a pet turtle, they are amazing to watch, maybe once your daughter is a little older, you could try one.

That is sooo cool! See, I would have wanted to keep it and then kept a stick close by as to whack said daughter with if she bothered it too much! LOL Just kidding. I have always wanted a turtle! And to just find one in your yard, how totally cool!

That is a red eared slider. We have three. Hank the tank who is four, Franklin who is five and Big Mamma Shelly who is ten. When Hank was a baby he was even smaller then that! The other two we adopted last year from an exotic animal shelter.

Ohhhh the poor thing. It was good he had someone like you to find him. Others would just have left him there or would have been given to their kids to be played with till they just die.
