Well I would either buy a Dell XPS or an Alienware laptop. Those are awesome laptops. The college I am going to attend supplies a laptop for us to keep so we will see what brand it is. Hopefully it is something good.
Oh - I would love to buy a “SHARP Actius MM20 NoteBook Transmeta TM8600 1GHz 10.4″ XGA 512MB 20GB ATI Mobility RADEON” - just not in my price range at this time . Maybe later this year. Are you looking to buy one?
Hi TNChick,
(I sent this to your old email address as well. I don’t have a new one. )
I have been wanting to ask you this for awhile but whenever I remember it is Tuesday or Wednesday which is probably too late but here it is, another Tuesday but I will ask anyway.
I was wondering if you would like to make a Thank You card that I could use for Friendly Fridays. I want to place it on my post for the person that has helped me that Friday. I know you are really good at graphic designing.
I’d just like it to say a simple “Thank You”but the design itself is only limited by your imagination which is huge.
I would like to have it for this Friday but I might be asking too much so the next Friday would do.
Let me know if you are interested and for which Friday.
I have a Dell laptop as well and I love it .. Although I do plan on increasing the hard drive and the memory on it as soon as possible. Other then that I really do like it.
I have a simple Dell Inspirion 1000, which isn’t much but I LOVE it. I would buy Dell over and over again. Their prices are so cheap these days and their product is great!
Kinda depends on what you want/need, each different machine brings different things to the party.
The IBM range is solid and reliable, but style wise they look like they are 100 years old.
Dell make good reliable machines, that look pretty good, and are usually pretty cheap. Very good VFM.
Of course for looks and (I hear) performance, there is always the iBook from Apple. Biggest drawback there is being different format from most other machines in daily use, although this becomes less of an issue every day. Pricey though.
Toshiba have, IMHO, always made the most reliable machines, although they tend to be more on the chunky/heavy side because of this, ie sturdier components, casing, etc.
I have heard some people that have good luck with “mickey mouse” brands, and why shouldn’t they, they all use the same components after all, although often the service and build quality isn’t that good. You do tend to get a lot more bang for your buck though.
Anyway, just a few opinions. Ultimately if it was my cash, I would probably go Dell. The overall offering is just hard to beat.
I remain impartial. We have 3 laptops, each one a different brand.. each one better in some ways than the others. I think it depends what you’re using the laptop for. When buying a laptop we don’t neccessarily go for a certain brand.. it just depends on the day.
Right now I have a ThinkPad, which I love. But I REALLY loved my MAC. We recently sold it, and I really miss it. If you are willing to switch over to MAC. I would totally recommend one of their laptops. They are really really nice.
I have a SONY VAIO FS series laptop. I bought it last year, and it has never disappointed me since. This is my second encounter with a VAIO, as my mom’s old laptop, which we bought back in 2001, was also a VAIO.Big changes from that one, the design is more modern, it has thinned a lot, and it has become more powerful. I love the big and wide screen, and it fits my needs, both in academics and in entertainment.
