Bronco Berry Sauce

Yum

Have you had any? I needed a snack so I hit up Arby’s via drive thru for some cream cheese filled jalapeno bites. I usually dip my peppers in ranch but they have this sauce. It reminded me of the sauce on the Chinese sweet ‘n sour chicken. I don’t like sweet and sour sauce. I actually thought I wouldn’t like this but found it to be very yummy and it went well with the peppers.

I looked it up to see how “bad” it was. The sauce and snack (5 pc.) together equal 430 cals/59 carbs/385mg sodium. I am actually dumb when it comes to labels or “recommended” amounts. I’ve never read labels and have no idea how much of what is “too much”. I am smart enough to know that it’s bad but I’m not sure how bad.

In my Thursday 13 I mentioned I need to eat less snacks. Reason being, I love to eat these types snacks. No, not everything I eat is unhealthy but I do eat for the taste and disregard labels and nutrition facts… a bad habit. My bad eating habits aren’t passed on to my kids… they eat healthy. I thought I better put that out there on record because last time I mentioned my eating habits (which was drinking Dr Pepper when I wake up) someone mentioned my kids. Actually, me drinkin’ DP is no different than all those who gulp coffee in the AM. Coffee - ick.

In other news, todays is FFAF when I usually have guest posting open. I forgot until this very moment - so I am not going to have guest posting today. I will open the door for a guest to post next week. Any takers? You can draft the post at any time and I’ll publish midweek. If so, just let me know via comments or email. If you don’t have my email click the contact me at the top of my sidebar.

Somebody said something about your kids when you mentioned Dr. Pepper in the morning?? Jeez. I hate coffee. But anyone who knows me knows not to talk to me until I finish my first Pepsi, which is the only breakfast I ever have. It’s still less caffiene than having a couple of cups of coffee first thing. My kids rarely have sodas. The two year old almost never has some. My 8 year old maybe once a week, and with her the sugar is more of an issue. So she can have a Diet something instead of caffiene free and be less nutty. :)

Replied: My kids do not drink soda, either. My son is 8 and my daughter is almost 4. Every now and again if we eat out they may have a small Sprite but no coke, pepsi, etc. My son says it’s bad for you anyway so he doesn’t mind not getting any LOL

The snack and sauce isn’t that bad. But the kicker to see is the amount of FAT. Calories/Carbs are burned off or stored into that lovely Fat, if not used. But the Fat that’s in there for FREE is the yucky stuff. Fat is harder to burn than carbs, so that’s why it takes more effort to get rid of than carbs or protien.

They sound damn yummy though. I love jalepeno poppers and make my own during the summer…

Replied: Thanks for the knowledge - the sauce has no fat but the bites (a 5pc order) has 21g total fat (9g saturated and 2g trans). I don’t know the different in saturated and trans fat tho. ;)

This sounds DELISH! I may have to try it.
Thanks for stopping by my T13. I ran out of time and did not get around to as many as I wanted to yesterday. I did read your list today though and I need to do the GYN thing (YUCK!!) but I also am fortunate enough to be at the age where I get to have a colonoscopy (Oh Joy!). Those are on my ‘to do’ list.

one of my gf’s always starts here day off with a diet pepsi, i can’t even imagine, but it’s her drink of choice over coffee (which i don’t drink either). i’ll stick to my tea, thank you very much!
i don’t think we have arby’s here, none that i can think of. and i think i’ve sent you enough e-mails for today, thanks again!

I drink tea (sweet) but usually in the afternoons. I drink Dr Pepper all day long. Arby’s is a roast beef fast food resturant. Oh.. and you can never email me too much - anytime! :)

Holy crap! I never would’ve guessed that sauce had so many calories. Do you like Thai chili sauce? That’s delish (though admittedly, I haven’t checked the label, which I now need to do!). The last time my friend made those peppers for me, I took a bite the cream cheese literally squirted right into my crotch.

Replied: Never had Thai chili sauce… what’s it like and where can I find it? I usually eat peppers with cheddar cheesse but I like these with cream cheese. LOL@ your accident. Oops…

When it comes down to it - everything that we like or is yummy is not good for you . I have my little hang ups too - like coffee all day long…I know what you are going to say…but what can I say - I am addicted to coffee .

    saturated fat is bad fat
trans fat is the evil bad fat

but not all fat is evil or bad… fat in fish is actually good for you, however, the heavy metals in fish are not good for you.

Don’t eat the fish in Oak Ridge :-)

Ohhh yes I know that sauce well.. Arby’s is my favorite fast food place. I don’t get to eat there often because there is not one close. I love that stuff. It reminds me of the dipping sauce for a monte cristo.. mmm those rock!!

If it’s Arby’s it’s got to be sauce. Who really knows what they put in their original Arby’s sauce, all I know is I love it. :)

girl, there just isn’t jalapeno bites unless you go for the dip!! That stuff is awesome!! Thanks for putting a growl in my belly and for taking my mind off of my troubles. =0)

Little Luv absolutely loves KFC’s mashed taters and gravy….last time we were there they had this sign posted about the fish (are they KFC & F, now??)….I never really eat there (yuck), but the above comment about fish made me think of it, and now I wished I would have paid attention. lol

    Miss you!!

430 calories in that little pot! jeeez. That’s kinda scarey.
But I do know that sauces are quite misleading.. I’ll remember that in future when I ask for a double pot of Dutch mayo with herbs arghh

I do have to say that this is the best sauce ever. I wish I knew how to make it. Guess if I want it, I’ll have to go to ARBYS.
