America’s Most Haunted

is near me…

Nearby, here in TN is one of the most famous haunted spots in American History. It’s the former location of John Bell’s Farm. Where there are poltergeist activities that take place and disembodied voices. Have you ever heard about the infamous Bell Witch?

The Bell Witch, “Kate,” was not a person. It’s a supernatural entity, sometimes called “Kate” in reference to an eccentric lady named Kate. However, the people and places in this legend are real. Descendants of this family still remain alive today - and you know what… rumor has it I’m related. Truthfully. I’ve been researching my geneaology for a while and I’m tryin’ to get it all together.

This all started in 1817 when the Bell family, who were farmers, began experiencing strange phenomena in their home. Today you can visit - they have the replica of the Bell Family cabin, the nearby Bellwood cemetary (but it’s on private property) and even a cave (which is totally awesome and seriously spooky) - it’s open for tours. Yes, I’ve been there.

No, she - The Bell Witch, wasn’t really a witch… it’s just the name of her legend. Back then, in the 1800s settlers considered the not understandable activies, as such, that went on witchery. No, this has nothing to do with the Blair Witch Project… This legandary history has been in existence for almost 200 years. The stories are entirely different.

Do you find this interesting? Questions? Do you believe in supernatural entities? Have you ever experienced (or think you have) anything similar? Do tell…

OK, that’s all for tonight - the cajun chicken I just ate is makin’ me hurt… Ugh. I’m off to check on my items sellin’ on eBay… Till next time,

~Out

I’m the only ghost suspected of witchcraft in my family.

I do have one question for you: do you have a sister who can appreciate a twisted sense of humor? ;)

Yes, this is interesting.. I believe there’s more to this world that we can see with our eyes… I’ve never encountered something ’supernatural’, but I do believe in it.

I LOVE the Bell Witch story and have read two books– The Bell Witch : “An American Haunting” by Brent Monahan and “The Infamous Bell Witch of Tennessee” by Charles Edwin Price–and numerous articles on the subject. It is such a great story–especially the Andrew Jackson encounter.

I have always believed in the paranormal and have had many experiences with unexplained phenonemon. Furthermore, I belong to a “ghost hunter” group and we have had the fortune to be able to visit many “haunted” sites around the San Francisco Bay Area.

How did you come by the Bell Witch story? Are you a “believer”? Have you experienced any strange happenings?

    ADMIN Says:

Yes, I believe the place there is haunted. I encountered many strange happenings while there. That cave was really wild & spooky. It freaked me out to be there, spooky. Unlike old “haunted” houses I visited, just here and there, that were just old abandoned homes considered to be haunted cuz they appears haunted…. When I went to visit the Bell Witch place I went with a group of people and they witnessed the freaky stuff, too. So, I know it wasn’t just me.

I know of the story because it’s near my home - been around it and heard about it all my life. Also, as mentioned the Bell family is in my genealogy, so I was told (and I’m tryin’ to get all that straight w/ my geneaology work that I’m doing)

Repeat after me: There is no such thing as ghosts, spirits, Yetis, Abominable Snowmen, witches and covens. There should NOT be anything such as left-handed people, but I guess nature isn’t perfect.

I visited you back, courtesy of Michele’s joint. Thanks for dropping by, Lefty.

Michelle sent me. I was intriuged by your site. I had never heard about that place and I am from Tennessee. It sounds like a place I would like to visit. I don’t believe in ghosts, but I’ve never experienced seeing one. My kids however believe in ghosts because they swear they have seen them in this old house we live in. It’s almost 100 years old and in the historic place of Chickamauga, GA.

    Have a good afternoon.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. :)

Ghosts? I leave my mind open on whether they truly exist. We have some friends, though, who were digging some bushes out of their yard when they found a human bone. After that, cans moved around in their garage and their recliner chair would be moved 3 feet from where it was supposed to be.

    ADMIN Says:

I don’t know that I really believe in ghosts. I do know I believe in Spirit….

When I visited this cave/location of teh Bell Witch I witnessed some strange things with my eyes & ears. I can’t say I saw a ghost but it was something.

I had a friend (still have him, but he’s no longer with us) that use to say his house was haunted. He’d hear a child there bouncing baketballs, etc… it was freaky. He (teh child/ghost/whatever) was always in the attic or stairway. His house was really old, they found an old medicine cabinet in the house when remodeling - not sure of dates but it was back when telephone numbers were only 3 digits.

    Cristie Worley Says:

I believe the Bell Witch story, and lots of other “supernatural stories” partly because I live marginally close to where the story is located. (In WNC) and partly because I have had mysterious encounters of my own since I was a child, and including recently, since my best friend was killed last week. I love that you posted on the Bell Witch. It certainly made my day to read that, than the latest political “stuff”! Love your design btw, its very nice!
