New Addition
New addition to the family. Hope she and Nixie will adjust to one another so we can keep her!! She’s 7 months old. She had been at the shelter for 2 months awaiting her forever home. She’s super lovable, sweet, and playful. They said she liked other cats but so far she and my resident cat aren’t getting along.

We think she’s gorgeous! It takes time to get used to a new family member. Good luck!

What a stunner! Don’t worry – it takes time for kitties to adjust to a new roomie. You might want to keep them apart for a few days, if you have room, so they can get used to each other’s smell first without actually having to look at each other. And when they are around each other, make sure you also have treats or toys – something that will tell Nixie that good things happen whenever the new kitty is around.
Think of it this way: how would you feel if all of a sudden, somebody else moved into your home and you had no say in the matter? And you didn’t know them, didn’t know their habits or whether you even liked them? Or, pretend you’re two years old and your parents just brought home a new sister – not even a baby sister, but one that was old enough to get in your stuff and in your way. Either way, I’m sure you catch my drift.

She’s beautiful! It can often take a few weeks for them to get used to each other. You might want to try some Feliway too.

I love her expressive eyes. I bet she settles in. They have to agree to some pecking order.

She is beautiful! It took a few weeks for things to settle down when I brought my second cat home. I did what Sparkle described, kept them separate and exchanged smells. Finally the hissing stopped and curiousity kicked in. Now my two are best buddies.
Good luck and have fun!

She’s gorgeous! I’ve also been thinking of adopting a playmate for my Azar. He’s been acting a bit out of sorts since his best mate Sunny died last month. But I’ve never “gone shopping” for a cat before.
Good luck with yours!

Congrats on the new addition! Ditto what the others said about allowing them to get used to each other – also the treats & toys. It takes time. You did a great thing!

She is beautiful. I love the big expressive eyes and I bet she is a sweetheart. And you are a sweetheart to bring her home from the shelter. Yeah!
