Got Milk?

This is a campaign for milk! My two kiddos LOVE milk and drink it every day. My husband is not a milk fan but will enjoy it in a shake or cereal… he told me he doesn’t ever recall drinkin’ milk – even as a young one. As for me, I had milk often – maybe because I grew up on a dairy farm! ;)

Finding cool, refreshing snacks in the summer months, both healthy and affordable, challenges even the most savvy of us. A survey conducted by the national Milk Council say 1,000+ across the U.S. reported fruit drinks and slushies (Mmmm, slushies!) as top summertime drinks. Eight-ounces of milk costs less than 25 cents/gal and provides more nutrients per penny than almost any other beverage. Knowing this, how can one not consider summery smoothies in lieu of high-sugar beverages?

In addition to vitamin D, milk also delivers eight other essential nutrients. Just because the temperature rises outside doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice nutrition for sugary lemonades, soda or sports drinks. These store-bought options also usually prove high in hidden calories. Milk proves a healthy essential that fits easily into my family’s daily summer routine. For this reason, the national Milk Mustache “got milk?” Campaign presents healthy tips, recipes and snack ideas to get you excited about drinking milk during summer on whymilk.com. Visit the site for nutritional benefits and healthy snacking tips.

So, go have a glass of milk or fix yourself a smoothie!

We had milk cows when I was growing up and all loved drinking milk. My brother was particularly fond of it and we called him a pail bunter. My son takes after his uncle and I have called him a pail bunter also (like the calves who pail feed and are so enthusiastic they bunt the pail–for readers of the comment who didn’t grow up around them). My sisters have a milk cow and supplies milk to all the family so we are blessed with fresh unpasteurized milk from the family farm. We love our milk too.

I love milk to but maybe I am starting to get alargic to milksuger “lactos” so I may have to stoop drinking milk.

But if you look around the world it is mostly the humans that drink milk ar a grown up, maybe it is not for us to drink milk when we are grown up….?
    But I do love it!!!

I grew up on a dairy farm, too! I enjoyed it – we still have the farm but no longer milk.
