What’s your policy?
and I mean when it comes to responsibility…
Yes, it’s me bloggin’ again. Who knows, I may keep it up! LOL Hard to believe I use to do it everyday. Anyway…
Responsibility is something everyone should have… however, some have a lot while others lack a lot. Do you always forgive? You should. Will you stop to help a complete stranger? I would. Did you teach this basic life principle to your kids? I am. “The more people think and talk about responsibility, the more the world becomes a better place” (quoted from Liberty Mutual). I want to be more responsible… and I want both of my children to be… and I challenge you to be, as well. Deal? Deal!
Do certain television commercials speak to you? I do not watch a lot of TV (can’t stand most of the programming and some of the commercials) but there are some things I enjoy. Certain commercials, certain older sitcoms, etc. Some even make me cry (shh, don’t tell everyone, I’m a softy!). One commercial that touches me (and makes my eyes fill with tears) is the ASPCA about abused animals. Another is by Liberty Mutual. It’s the one where strangers do random acts of kindness for other strangers. According to Liberty Mutual, they launched a website, The Responsibility Project (and blog), due to the an overwhelming response of their commercial. Do you find it hard to believe one short commercial can touch so many people? I do. But, it happens and I’m glad this is one of them because I totally agree with the message! The goal of their site is to be a resource that can help folks talk with their kids about personal responsibility. What a wonderful thing! I found about about the project via momcentral, so kudos to MC for sharing the news!
I took time and watched some of the short films they have on the project website. Some are very touching (and I do mean that… one made me teary!) and a few are a bit long but they show exactly how we, as people, should be, from kids to adult!
This one is long but one of my faves:
Oh…. and before I go, this is for the cats & cat owners around… It should have been with my green post below… but, well, I didn’t know about it when I posted that…
treehuggingcats.com is giving away Yesterday’s News®, free. It is eco-friendly cat liter, made from Recycled Newspaper. Sure, you can use your own papers but why not try it, it’s free. I requested a coupon to try it. I’ll try anything once… LOL!
Well, gotta scram – I’ve been enjoying time with my hubs this week. It’s been so nice!
Toodles.

I really love that Liberty Mutual commercial, I think I may have even blogged about it. I am pretty sure that I did… I’ll have to dig in my archives.
I will have to check out the LM website when I have more time.
But as for My Policy, I have something of my own Trinity:
http://www.forbetterlife.org/
which is the values to which we should live our life
and then
http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/
which is how we should interact with others that we come in contact with (which is what the Liberty Mutual commercial was about)
and these two combine to the “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

Definitely a need to teach the right values of life to our kids

Ok I am writing this comment with tears just flowing and flowing. What a powerful movie!
THANK you for blogging about it. It touched me in many ways …. My brother and I saw our father walk out when we were about 7 and 3….It has always been a painful thing in our life… and in the last 10 days, I am dealing with my brother doing exactly the same thing to his family….. Though this movie was about a woman I couldn’t help but think of my brother repeating our father’s mistake….
I am not sure if he will watch it, but I will send it to him!
I am now going to go check the web site!
THANK YOU
Have a great long weekend

Beautiful movie, moved me more than I can say.
Commercials often bring me to tears, I get teased by my family because I often tear up…but that’s ok, my heart is big.

OMG, that is SO not what an overdue pregnant woman needed to watch…especially when she has pretty much no relationship with her own father.

Thanks so much for blogging about this! It isn’t every day we see uplifting, positive messages in the media.

Our Mommakitty tried “Yesterday’s News” with her last kitties. She says it was OK on odor, but her biggest complaint was that the product stained da kitty paws (just like newspaper can ink-stain human’s hands), and after a while da carpet gotted stained from da frequent stained kitty paws walking around. Mommakitty was also worried about what da kitties wuz ingesting when they licked their paws. Would you eat newspaper? Anyhoo . . . that wuz her review.

What an awesome message and short film. There was so much in it, in such a concise way. It was very well done. I personally can’t relate to the situations, but I can empathize with what was going on and the pain they were going through.

I didn’t watch the movies but do love that commercial. I just consider it common courtesy and I think that’s a lot of what’s missing in our every day lives. You wrote a good piece about this, I’m going to let it percolate in my brain a bit and if you don’t mind, maybe do something on the topic too.
