Just an FYI
so you will always know when my post will appear for each PhotoHunt. It’s good news to some and bad news to others.
It has been determined that the earlier I post, the earlier others post and my Saturday PhotoHunt has become a Friday PhotoHunt. I know for those in time zones ahead of me this is bad news and for that I apologize… but for me, it’s good news. I’m in the US, central time zone (GMT -6) and I just can’t please everyone, sadly. I need a routine.
I will auto publish my PhotoHunt post weekly, at 5 AM 2 AM (my time). I usually post Friday night and even some Friday afternoons but after much thought and after many comments I’ve decided to keep this a Saturday thing. Don’t stress about being first and don’t feel bad for being last. Please please hold your comment ’till the post is published. If that means you can’t comment before bed, it’ll be OK. Comment when you wake up… or after work… or whatever is best for you. It’ll all work out. =) When you comment on other threads folks don’t search for you comment and it won’t generate any visits so it’s best to wait. KWIM? BTW – you can post your photo anytime you wish – just wait to leave your link in comments on the appropriate post when it’s up.
Please, no complaints. Just play along like always, smile, take photographs and be happy. Ok? If you can’t find time to comment, tag your post “photohunt” via technorati and folks can still find you.
Thanks for reading.

Good for you, TnChick. It’s your hunt and your rules — the point of the hunt is not to be the first one anyway, it’s to go around and look at all the beautiful and creative ways that people find to express your theme. Thanks for keeping this up.
BTW please could you post instructions on how to tag through Technorati? I have no idea how to do this!

TNChick replied:
Look here under “Tagging on Technorati:” there is a line of code there you can copy and paste. Here is a guide on tags, too, if you wanna read it. To find others who have tagged, visit this page. If you need more info, just let me know.

I am glad to know exactly when it will be up.
I am NOT arguing or complaining, but just throwing it out there, that I find more people able to cruise around the net and look at all the posts on friday. Weekends seem to be pretty slow. Not as many people online. Just a thought. Either way….I am really happy being a part of such a fun project.
Thank you!

I would this this is a good idea in order to be fair to all. It should be auto publish at 5am CST. At least we will know when to wait for the post to be up rather than to wait until the wee hours of our Saturday morning.
There is one problem that really concern me and a few others. It’s the courtesy of the participants. Since the list has grown to be so big, I would not expect each and everyone to visit all but the participants should at least have the courtesy of replying to those who have taken the effort and time to visit them.
I do make it a habit to visit as many as I could and reply to all my visitors unless my internet line is down. It’s not the traffic that concerned me but the friendship that follows. I have known quite a few good friends through here and shared some similar interests too. Thanks for your effort and time in hosting this wonderful photo hunt Jamie

Sounds like a good plan. Thanks for the info!

Thank you from me as well. I also tend to avoid commenting on those who are aren’t where they are supposed to be, so those who have posted on this thread that theirs is up for this week will not get a visit from me. Mine is ready and saved, but I will not post it till at least bedtime (PST) tonight.
When I sit down to comment, I usually comment back to those who have visited me, then come to your comments and select a page. Sometimes it is the first page, and sometimes the last and sometimes one in the middle. If I visit again, I will take a different page.
Sometimes I visit one PhotoHunter and them visit one who has commented there and continue on in that fashion. When I have time I visit most. When I am very busy I only visit my visitors.
No matter what I do, I find it fun and fascinating how differently we all respond to a common theme. Sometimes, if we were to put two or more of the photos up together without knowing the theme, it would be difficult to figure it out.
As for the technorati–I don’t have a clue what that is or how it works. I just finally figured out how to link to you–LOL.
See you again tomorrow.

tnchick, you have to draw a line somewhere. It doesn’t matter when your PH post comes up. I’ll put in my comment when it’s up.
Have a good weekend. I’ll come back tomorrow morning.

Hi!I am actually thinking of posting right now because it is already January 26, 2008 here!
Anyways, thank you for the reminder.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s saturday or friday because we are here for the love of photography and I enjoy participating in this Photohunt because I could take photos according to theme.

“Please, please hold your comment ’till the post is published.”
And yet, there are some who think the rules do not apply to them and post their links anyway. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I tend to ignore rule-breakers and have no intention of visiting them just BECAUSE they don’t follow the guidelines. Grr, play fair, folks.
Bravo, TNChick. You have to draw the line somewhere. I never stress over when I comment; I post, I leave a link, and then I try to visit the ten/fifteen people above my name before life calls and I run out of time. The list has gotten so big, that it’s virtually impossible to visit everyone, anymore.
Besides, to me, the SPH is more about looking for the beauty in simple things and appreciating photography than generating comments. But I guess I’m weird like that.
Thanks again for making it clear and don’t worry about the early birds – they will just have to cope.
Have an excellent weekend!

Excellent. It is easy to let things slide but this definitely seems the right way to handle the situation. Good thinking.

I have noticed that if I was early on the comment list, I got a lot more visitors, but if I was late, I got less.
And then I decided that if I was doing it just for hits, it wasn’t fun anymore. Now, most weeks I don’t even comment on the PH post. I still post my picture just for my regular readers, and some people still find me and comment, but I can’t stress myself out trying to make it to 200 blogs to comment.
I love PH and plan to participate for a long time!!! No matter what the rules are!!!

Is alright for me. It’s better to be early than late, right? There is an Chinese old saying “Early bird gets the worm”. So…I am ready!
Here you go, buddy! Mine’s up.

You know what? I was telling my sister the same thing! There was once I asked her whether this is a Saturday hunt or a Friday hunt, LOL.
We should just hope that this gets on well with the majority of us, because you were right, we can’t please everybody

Good Job, now everyone knows the deal.. and totally agree.
