PhotoHunt Poll
**Poll Results as of Tuesday January 8: 92% (out of 145 votes) are in favor of featuring someone from the previous week.** By vote, I will feature the site of day, as always. It will be a photo from last week’s theme, each week. Oh… and the site of the day is a random pick, to be fair to all (since we have amature to pro photographers here). It’s always been random, in case you were not aware. =) Now, onto the first PhotoHunt of 2008!
Now that new players won’t be linked in my weekly post - I will be posting my PhotoHunt post a bit early, on Friday afternoon each week. Yes, it’s a Saturday thing but by posting Friday evening/afternoon seems to work best since I’m the hub.
With that said - that means when I post, it’ll be too early to pick a site of the day for the current week - so I want your opinion on what you’d prefer.
Choices: 1) Discontinue the site of the day 2) Feature someone from the previous week.

It seems to me that highlighting a site from the previous week will probably work the best. JMO, of course.

I think you should do it the following week, make it “Photo of the week”. I enjoyed visiting the site you chose for the day, and leaving a “congratulations” on their comments. I’m sure the ones that have been chosen thus far are pleased with themselves, seeing they were chosen. You have done a great job with this Photo Hunt. Keep up the good work. Cindy

Yes, I too think that picking something from the previous week is a good idea - if only ‘cos I never post in time to get picked otherwise!!!
But, would you have time to look at all 200 or so photos each week?

Picking from the previous week would be a good idea but as Peter said, would you have time to look at all the entries?
How about randomly picking a site from those who left comments here? Maybe one criteria would be there should be the logo of the PH in the entry AND a link back to your site. What do you think?
I would be putting another photo entry in my subdomain and my daughter who has a blog wants to join too.
I hope you would be able to come up with a solution, Jamie since it is already Friday where I am,lol!

I think you should pick from the previous week. I admire that you even go through all that to post links and whatnot.

I will try to remember to post early, but most likely it will be Saturday early morning or late Friday night

selecting photo of the week (previous week) is good ideas
1) you have more time to make decision
2) late poster would have a fair chance too

Perhaps randomly select a player from the previously would be a good idea, the point here is “random” since you did not reveal the criteria which you will use in selecting “Site for the Day”

Sometimes I’m too busy or frazzled that the only place I do go to is the site of the week … so I’d like to see it continued. And not make it a contest … just someone’s turn to have some focus turned on them.

I like the idea of picking from the earlier week as well. That way more people can be featured than just the early posters.

Oh — some commenters were talking about whether it should be a contest or just a random pick. Criteria for site of the day is really up to you as you’re the host. On the one hand it’s nice for everyone to have a chance to be featured, but on the other hand it’s good if the site of the day has a really good representation of the theme.

I also like the idea of picking one from previous week’s entry as you would be having more time in hand and won’t be so stressed out… I can’t wait to start a new year with my new entries too.
Well, I would prefer the topic of the week to be up by Friday noon. Most of the time when the post is up, it’s already 4-5am on Saturday over here in Malaysia or Singapore, meaning +8.00 GMT.
