Photo Hunt 58: Cooked/ing

Site of the Day: muffin53 Please, go comment! =)

New folks this week: (Please take time to visit, make ‘em feel the love!)

Attempting to step outside the box here. Our field was cooked. See the black area towards the top of the photo? We had a small fire burning in the gulley (aka ditch). The wind took over… what a mess. My hubby, dad, brother and brother’s father in law all put it out with a lot of effort. This was in February… Now, the pasture is all nice and green and pretty again! Whew. =) Oh, the photo is my hubby & daughter… and our horse, Cosmo.=)

PhotoHunt: Cooked

Please note: Thanks to Melli I realized PINK was given twice in the theme line-up… so Dec 1st theme is no longer Pink & Red it’s just Red… as Pink was given in October. Oops. This is just an early FYI. I’ve changed it on the theme list.

  41. 41. Comment by Patricia (88 comments.):

I like your stepping “outside the box.” In fact, I almost posted something similar. We have been dealing with an historic drought and I have several photos of our parched and “cooked” pasture. Fortunately, we have had a little bit of rain recently. It is amazing how quickly everything greens back up.

I’m glad you were able to get the fire under control. In addition to the drought, the fires here in Florida have been horrible.

I just posted my photo. It is right in the middle of the box, but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to brag on my man!

Have a great weekend, and I do hope that you are feeling much better.

  42. 42. Comment by MommyBa (10 comments.):

Thanks for the warm welcome :) I’m enjoying it here!!

Great idea for stepping outside of the box for this week’s theme! It must have been really messy looking at all that black stuff!

Mine’s already up in my blog :)

    Have a wonderful weekend :)

  43. 43. Comment by Gabrielle (31 comments.):

God is the best cook, isn’t He? :) Thanks for sharing the pic and for visiting my meme blog

  44. 44. Comment by Sara (18 comments.):

Love the picture! Mine is up, and sorry it is boring :p

  45. 45. Comment by Barbara H. (101 comments.):

Definitely a different take on the theme! I’m glad that land can recover from fires.

  46. 46. Comment by Lynn (47 comments.):

Good thing it didn’t turn into a full blown fire. I bet it looks a lot better now too. :)

  49. 49. Comment by Zsolt72 (8 comments.):

a surprising photo:) without your explanation I couldnt find out what was cooked there:)

  50. 50. Comment by srp (42 comments.):

Did you get any rain on top of putting out the fire? It has been damp and rainy here in Virginia for three days now…. the high only in the 50’s and really quite chilly and misty to be out.

I went pretty conventional this week.

  51. 51. Comment by Jennifer D (5 comments.):

Wow - glad it wasn’t worse! Took me a minute to find the spot you were talking about! Glad it’s all green again now.

    Mine’s up…..Baby Soup!

Blogger has done something new with their posting mechanism. It now automatically and periodically saves the page as a draft while you are typing. Unfortunately, it also seems to be in a form with the comments automatically disabled. You have to check that box under “post options” to enable comments. I just tried to visit both bonggamom and JenniferD and on both the comments were disabled.

  61. 61. Comment by YTSL (73 comments.):

Hi all! Am glad to report that I’m back in the hunt after a two week absence (induced by moving from Malaysia to Hong Kong and needing to do things like hunt for a new place to stay, have broadband installed in it, etc., etc.)! :)

That’s a great take on the hunt. I was thinking of a sunburn, but could not find any photos.

You know, what you said last week was right. This is turning into a Friday night hunt. If I do not get mine up on Friday night, I get very few comments. I was late with this one and did not get mine up until about 8:30 a.m. and it is now three hours later and no comments, even though I’ve commented on others. Very very odd. Certainly is obvious when most people are doing their commenting.
